Who’s Pregnant?

We took blood samples to send to the BioTracking Lab located in Moscow, Idaho, to see who has an ET (Embryo Transfer) calf successfully implanted. The cows should be at least 35 days pregnant before pulling blood for a sample. The process is simple, now that we have a system down.

  • Headgate the cow.
  • Label the vial with cow tag number.
  • Clean the underside of the tail with alcohol.
  • Insert needle and draw 3 ccs of blood.
  • Dust cow with fly powder and release (never too early to start on fly prevention).

We sent the samples to BioTracking and should receive the results in 2 to 4 days by email.
