We are watering the alfalfa for the last time this year (we hope there is rain to come soon). As the Colville River seems to have lots of “goodies” coming our way, it is necessary to clean the suction system every 4-5 hours. If the screens are not cleaned the pressure drops and the water shuts off.
It is incredibly dry and the alfalfa needs to have the root system healthy and growing before the first freeze. The alfalfa can suffer devastating winter kill that results in weeds and grass taking over.
