We have been bringing the cows and calves into the barnyard at the end of the day to spend the night. Due to the standing water in the pastures the past two years, we have lost a portion of our cow feed for the summer. By turning the cows and calves out in the early morning and bringing them up at night, we are able to stretch the grass into more days of feed. We are fortunate to have a nice facility so the calves are able to eat hay all night if they wish. Just one more way that Mother Nature lets us know that we are not in charge!
