During my early morning heat detection tour, I encountered this bull calf reaching through the hay barn fence to have his morning milk. The calves have an area inside the barn to rest and eat hay at their leisure. At first, I thought he was a very lazy Hereford not wanting to come to his mother. After some pondering, I came to the conclusion that maybe he was pretty smart not wanting to waste the energy and extra steps to find his snack. So, smart or lazy?
