Calves are Growing Well
The calves have their own feeding and covered stall area so there is always something to munch on. They seem to like the soft, palatable barley hay.

We are now over half way through calving. A set of Angus heifer calves was the surprise so far. A nice set of girls who each weighed in at 61 and 63 lbs.
We have all experienced hardships this summer. We are thankful that fall has arrived and hopefully some much needed rain will follow.
All sold out of Polled Hereford Bulls for the year. A huge thank you to all our customers! Stop by and see the 2021 calf crop, we have used some outstanding sires.
The Angus calves seem to have taken over a barn.
The calves have access to a hay barn that has been converted to calf cubicles using big bales of straw. Makes for an out of the wind, dry place to eat hay and have a comfy rest.
We had a set of twin heifer calves born in January. Both are doing well and have been named Dot and Spot.
The barn renovation is coming along nicely. See the photos
When I look at this tree, I know that winter is here to stay. Sigh.
The guys are deep ripping the barley stubble below the hardpan before preparing the ground for next year’s crop. The idea is to allow the water to be absorbed and not drown the new alfalfa. Now we wait and see.
